The Pottstown Historical Society will welcome local historian, Mike Snyder, to our general meeting on January 19 at 7:00 pm. This will take place at our building at 568 High Street, and his presentation will be about Camp Pottsgrove. This encampment took place during the Revolution in the year 1777 in the area that is now Lower Frederick, New Hanover and Lower Pottsgrove Townships. This was after the defeat of the Continental Army at Brandywine and George Washington needed to find a place to rest and feed his army. The effects of having 10,000 hungry and sick men and thousands of horses would have on the local population will be discussed in this talk.
