The mission of the Pottstown Historical Society is to collect, preserve, present, and disseminate material and information pertaining to Pottstown’s past. We do this to educate the public about Pottstown’s unique heritage, support research related to Pottstown and its people, and safeguard for future generations the items and archives that tell Pottstown’s story.

Pottstown Historical Society’s extensive archive of primary source material, including city directories, Pottstown High School, Hill School, and other school yearbooks, local newspapers, church and cemetery records, family histories, and many other Pottstown-related items that can only be found at the Society.
Photographs
The Pottstown Historical Society photograph collection, circa 1850-2016, is comprised of original and copy photographs in various formats, including paper prints, film negatives, and panoramas.

The Pottstown Historical Society collection includes Pottstown City Directories, church histories, borough tax and legal records, as well as Pennsylvania state records and family histories and genealogies.

Our newspaper collection includes selections from the Montgomery Ledger and Pottstown Mercury newspapers. We also have selections from the Pottstown Blade and other miscellaneous materials. We have an extensive collection of Parade.
